The sunny faces of Daffodils smiling will brighten anyone's day! I created two of these cards, one for each of the Mothers in our family. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi049rj_XAFNxVCZiZi_AmiEP-Eb5MGGuOVtXh_9dkDLht2ZcrSVrxS5oyXKBQnIcDd7iYTkvtjLPKQN-bqCvmUylHsKJNY9-hKlTgZlFKG40V6X7zaJqv-K9pXKh5TuFtuwcVqtJIJ16gAOplnHhGIE4hGhY4V6wMcWyvPRQDBWjQe_Mezlc0CQsKU47JJ/s640/RRCB%20226.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="550" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi049rj_XAFNxVCZiZi_AmiEP-Eb5MGGuOVtXh_9dkDLht2ZcrSVrxS5oyXKBQnIcDd7iYTkvtjLPKQN-bqCvmUylHsKJNY9-hKlTgZlFKG40V6X7zaJqv-K9pXKh5TuFtuwcVqtJIJ16gAOplnHhGIE4hGhY4V6wMcWyvPRQDBWjQe_Mezlc0CQsKU47JJ/s320/RRCB%20226.jpg" width="275" /></a></div><br /><p>The stamp/die/mold Spring Daffodil set from Heartfelt Creations was released in 3/2021. These flowers do take a bit of time create, but the end product is so worth the effort! Heartfelt Creations has been a leader in exquisite flowers for over two decades. Sadly the creator and owner is retiring. If there is a flower you really love, now is the time to see if they are still available. (I'm not in any way affiliated with HC, but have loved their products for many years!)<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjHE1Gz6xabnEeH6HQLAphHuVMegJ07KQ_sOhDq5P_9LJ7CfH0T0LqZKAnlhoLcdvL6XzVBWD9TcpWYtFrGdx2WB6bEZBiCuvAR9xvg5AzrGSZB5l2kQmS5oguim2jQjtijBN1GhIC3JwWeRK0-je9E8LYSFuodstjTuhTduY26ViCNQV8F_NVVwEhPS3z/s801/RRBC226%20Daffodils.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="801" data-original-width="526" height="825" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjHE1Gz6xabnEeH6HQLAphHuVMegJ07KQ_sOhDq5P_9LJ7CfH0T0LqZKAnlhoLcdvL6XzVBWD9TcpWYtFrGdx2WB6bEZBiCuvAR9xvg5AzrGSZB5l2kQmS5oguim2jQjtijBN1GhIC3JwWeRK0-je9E8LYSFuodstjTuhTduY26ViCNQV8F_NVVwEhPS3z/w541-h825/RRBC226%20Daffodils.jpg" width="541" /></a></div><p></p><p>There are videos available on YouTube (Heartfelt Creations Spring Daffodil) to help you make these flowers, so I am going to list the supplies I used rather than describe the creation. There was an entire series of iconic floral images. This Pansy was released in 1993 mounted on wood. So pretty.</p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>The image was stamped in Memento Luxe' Espresso Truffle, as I wanted a color softer than black. Then heat embossed in clear embossing powder. </li><li>An easy way to blend inks is to color on a plastic surface with Memento Dual Tip Markers. Colors used for the flowers are: Cantaloupe, Danube Blue, Lulu Lavender, Grape Jelly, Cottage Ivy, and Pear Tart. The colors can be mixed before adding a bit of water with a paint brush, then gently applied to the image. The heat embossing keeps the coloring inside the lines.</li><li>The image is die cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Ovals. </li><li>The next larger size is die cut from card stock to serve as the card front.</li><li>A 12" x 12" x 5" piece of cardstock was folded in half and die cut with the same size die as the card front with the fold inside a small section of the die to kept the card in one piece.</li><li>Hero Arts "It's Your Day" released in 2015 sentiment Birthday Wishes is stamped in Memento Luxe' Espresso Truffle and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. </li><li>The sentiment is die cut with Lawn Fawn Everyday Sentiment Banners and the edges are inked in Memento Luxe' Espresso Truffle.</li><li>The layers are adhered together with the sentiment raised with dimensional foam adhesive. </li></ul><p></p><p>This is the Tic Tac Toe board used for the challenge. This just happens to be my color challenge--choosen because of the colors outside the windows of my new home in Northern Minnesota. We are so fortunate to live on a lake and watch the seasons change through our windows. Right now the lake is frozen and covered with snow. During a snow storm we cannot see across the lake! </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8KqX-LtxnK2kPrrvtgCkeRJFgYCL6mBF3J1GFgFOz7Ylly56XotB-0sGA69UZx0VXDs81llgZm4ISbq65Iq8zSKsWPedssJA7IYoGRL9rzhnpTpH7M95HzFOY5NDTQyIxhNHENfsf_GJE3JG2FITwCAcV3MgRbaC7QcVTl-djUvcM19BaXyEnfYYzsVmA/s640/RRCB%20223.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="550" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8KqX-LtxnK2kPrrvtgCkeRJFgYCL6mBF3J1GFgFOz7Ylly56XotB-0sGA69UZx0VXDs81llgZm4ISbq65Iq8zSKsWPedssJA7IYoGRL9rzhnpTpH7M95HzFOY5NDTQyIxhNHENfsf_GJE3JG2FITwCAcV3MgRbaC7QcVTl-djUvcM19BaXyEnfYYzsVmA/s320/RRCB%20223.jpg" width="275" /></a></div><br /> Two different stamps were used in the creation of my card. The first is Winter Aspen by Ann-ticipations in 1996. The second is a Dots Cube from Neato Stuff made in 1991. Did I tell you that the only stamps that have made the move so far are my wood mounted stamps? So these are some of the first stamps in my huge collection! I really enjoyed making this card and using SUPER DUPER Retro Rubber!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyH5ukmY9MPwnUWyZ_3SPOD7GHI33pvLxj5lKTrDp3yvy8yGwxCVsZ_nyeYvpx7AbXBLn6ANrofThc76IEH_e1oc727grF9QZe2QdbW1HxJ27avlj1-zpJqYI4mQYqKd79sNGdkAOzyUT2f_ao_4bGOf-LOXtoTpbsHyOMLn5_oAulqWWy1N5rK612Tpqi/s917/RRBC223.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="917" data-original-width="640" height="673" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyH5ukmY9MPwnUWyZ_3SPOD7GHI33pvLxj5lKTrDp3yvy8yGwxCVsZ_nyeYvpx7AbXBLn6ANrofThc76IEH_e1oc727grF9QZe2QdbW1HxJ27avlj1-zpJqYI4mQYqKd79sNGdkAOzyUT2f_ao_4bGOf-LOXtoTpbsHyOMLn5_oAulqWWy1N5rK612Tpqi/w469-h673/RRBC223.jpg" width="469" /></a></div><br /><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>The ombre' background was created with Ink Daubers and the following inks: Versa Color Baby Blue, Versa Color Smoke Blue, Versa Fine Clair Fantasia, and Versa Color Indigo. I knew it would be perfect for a clean and simple one layer card. <ul style="text-align: left;"><li>The image is stamped in the center of the card with Delicata Silvery Shimmer and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. The image is also stamped off the edge of the card to both the right and left to create a string of hearts across the entire card. The outside images are offset towards the top of the card.<br /></li><li>The hearts are colored in with Memento Dual Tip Marker in Angel Pink.</li><li>The middle sentiment is from the Unity Stamp Company set and is stamped in Memento Angel Pink. The "we" was masked before inking the stamp, as both my husband and I will be signing this card.</li><li>Technique Tuesday's Say It Happy "Happy Valentine's Day" is stamped int he lower right corner in Delicata Silvery Shimmer and Heat Embossed in Silver embossing powder. </li></ul><p>Clean and simple can be very elegant and effective, as well as quick to put together once the design decisions are made! Instead I share the way that will give you the cleanest look avoiding the pit falls!<br /></p><p>Skill: Intermediate</p><p>Time: 2 hours</p><p> Directions:</p><p>Step 1:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgUa1QmuhgCtN_Jr9GPhOFx-bkokKA6eE_C7zXOf9qoWFD5eVOGb3-N2za6onkBD7_EHcP59LIk9cYI70rLvsHM4tVKm9way0ZKGbk15fZoc1R6_30NBxWi3LvDgzs1Xt_ufXAA7Ss0AwEgIWskj3kUxwrcaHY7Z5aLEEV9CsxbB2_KNNPxL15bX6zf0w" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="900" height="464" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgUa1QmuhgCtN_Jr9GPhOFx-bkokKA6eE_C7zXOf9qoWFD5eVOGb3-N2za6onkBD7_EHcP59LIk9cYI70rLvsHM4tVKm9way0ZKGbk15fZoc1R6_30NBxWi3LvDgzs1Xt_ufXAA7Ss0AwEgIWskj3kUxwrcaHY7Z5aLEEV9CsxbB2_KNNPxL15bX6zf0w=w464-h464" width="464" /></a></div>Trim
white watercolor cardstock to 4 1/4" x 9 1/4", or about 1/4" on each side larger than your stencil. this will allow you to handle your project more cleanly. Use reposition able painters tape or washi tape to secure stencil along left side with edges matching along the upper and left hand side. Spritz with Fireworks! in New Sprout until color depth desired is achieved. In this close up photo freezer paper is used underneath the stencil and paper with the plasticized side up. This allows collection of the over spray for background papers. Carefully lift stencil to keep excess Fireworks from leaking under the stencil and adding unwanted color. </div><p>Step 2:</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjSFzbpYXbCLFSjUVeIXxPrBNyRwGVFXE3WmfC002v0q4Z0iE_iYQ_jX95VO0TREMlkktkV_uL-tIZt1wDUKUjM_chmg2pmWyZ1ZeniOMRs12HRDeHaZNCmBIidaF-5sdFUgDTuJ4JeOiO6KrFdopK66MNSW80G534QeCTNQrj8tccQy3mrP5lcDEOtVA" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="900" height="469" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjSFzbpYXbCLFSjUVeIXxPrBNyRwGVFXE3WmfC002v0q4Z0iE_iYQ_jX95VO0TREMlkktkV_uL-tIZt1wDUKUjM_chmg2pmWyZ1ZeniOMRs12HRDeHaZNCmBIidaF-5sdFUgDTuJ4JeOiO6KrFdopK66MNSW80G534QeCTNQrj8tccQy3mrP5lcDEOtVA=w469-h469" width="469" /></a></div><br /> Secure next layer of layering stencil in place and spritz with Fireworks! in Bamboo Leaves. This photo shows a spray box that protects your work area from over spray. It also shows the best distance of 12" to 18" to spray the stencil to avoid large droplets of Firewoks. <br /> </div><div class="post-body entry-content" id="post-body-8920289328491723519" itemprop="description articleBody">Step 3:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh4RZdWWh2z6CVETdS7gjRtcC9XuRtDBQ7B0UrgZoQ7ZfH9xqEaLe7TTs_p1xCa8tG_z6lbP_uEK6gHec6xD2Dl53rwYWVjwcrHO3xisM3f_LEs5nqwdR3tXbEZ78wLwZxZ4NQjE0hCZuzUJhzXekdMAmnttU7FtOEjRsmBe7_7qbG-DdCtjd_0A0gAcw" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="900" height="463" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh4RZdWWh2z6CVETdS7gjRtcC9XuRtDBQ7B0UrgZoQ7ZfH9xqEaLe7TTs_p1xCa8tG_z6lbP_uEK6gHec6xD2Dl53rwYWVjwcrHO3xisM3f_LEs5nqwdR3tXbEZ78wLwZxZ4NQjE0hCZuzUJhzXekdMAmnttU7FtOEjRsmBe7_7qbG-DdCtjd_0A0gAcw=w463-h463" width="463" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div>Clean stencils with sections of watercolor paper after each layer. Here Dandelion is used for Stencil 3, and Tangelo for Stencil 4. <p></p><p>Step 5:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgVzNbZTs4sLoSWUiM425mgVdTixGeZvsVd7Co4ngLCMuYYfSxsfiLn_v8o-VP8WpaDO450K139TV1tJBBK7e725J8KrFmH7mkxfbFPm4UZtmTOn4qAuZ5_0W3EzdatoxwXriWAi3feRSI1vr8daVNXYYuHVGS9IeKPfeBPRi9EpNPN_I06DEYKsg1-BQ" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="900" height="466" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgVzNbZTs4sLoSWUiM425mgVdTixGeZvsVd7Co4ngLCMuYYfSxsfiLn_v8o-VP8WpaDO450K139TV1tJBBK7e725J8KrFmH7mkxfbFPm4UZtmTOn4qAuZ5_0W3EzdatoxwXriWAi3feRSI1vr8daVNXYYuHVGS9IeKPfeBPRi9EpNPN_I06DEYKsg1-BQ=w466-h466" width="466" /></a></div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Sometimes as a designer you discover easier methods in the process of designing a project. I was not satisfied with the color through the stencil by just spraying with the stencils that were smaller openings. It is recommended to use this method for the rest of the layers. Fireworks! in Tangelo is shown here sprayed on a plastic sheet. Using a cotton swab the color is carefully dabbed through the stencil to give better color depth. A cotton swab also prevents leakage underneath the stencil of excess color. A lot less of the spray was used with this method! Stencils 5 and 6 used this method to complete the look. Stencil 5 used Fireworks! in Lilac Posies, and Stencil 6 a mixture of Fireworks! Rich Cacoa (for shimmer) and Walnut Ink in Java for a darker color. <br /></div><p>Step 6:</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjScHe2-xr1lqCqqH6OJZJpoZeKmaUf5yuAqcTAv11aHhpVEL2GTJJF1dBcKQXgPgJpSgy3vlp8jWMx-Gtarc8dWVwF2vnHNj_1s5hKHrblVg-EzJip9WWytQtqjbbvVqASNTjrydA07ZgG3Jp-mCjKe0ALLMX0i7bfcZGw5s-01uDjOruoyx85WqTaLw" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="900" height="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjScHe2-xr1lqCqqH6OJZJpoZeKmaUf5yuAqcTAv11aHhpVEL2GTJJF1dBcKQXgPgJpSgy3vlp8jWMx-Gtarc8dWVwF2vnHNj_1s5hKHrblVg-EzJip9WWytQtqjbbvVqASNTjrydA07ZgG3Jp-mCjKe0ALLMX0i7bfcZGw5s-01uDjOruoyx85WqTaLw=w476-h476" width="476" /></a></div><br />Here are the images from the entire stencil set. <br /><p></p><p>Step 7:<br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhpTAH6kJLe9kg8w1fgrqaJyEwihbtVlF4ou_tLw7yzeSPTBbqvpAzMe2odiJQXMVPkfMMXpeZriYFDLxbgDiSjOHGsIDxjC2VJhOLdDcRaDGD_98d2zKO6fk3j3gidZ5yHD-0rtp1tQtWwO6bijeZa8Gr4ni7vuULPbvyeNddFTIQ9RefxwpxVrjpIpQ" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="900" height="474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhpTAH6kJLe9kg8w1fgrqaJyEwihbtVlF4ou_tLw7yzeSPTBbqvpAzMe2odiJQXMVPkfMMXpeZriYFDLxbgDiSjOHGsIDxjC2VJhOLdDcRaDGD_98d2zKO6fk3j3gidZ5yHD-0rtp1tQtWwO6bijeZa8Gr4ni7vuULPbvyeNddFTIQ9RefxwpxVrjpIpQ=w474-h474" width="474" /></a></div>One "blooper" photo, all the backgrounds made with the over spray and Fireworks! left on the stencils. White cardstock is placed and attention is paid to not allowing it to move before it is pressure embossed. Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy was my ink of choice for this card. The card front is trimmed to 4" x 5.25" and then inked in Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy.</li><li>The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Company's ". . . beautiful life, blessed memories" set released in January 2015. </li><li>A matching ribbon is tied in a bow and adhered with a glue dot.</li><li>The card front is adhered to a A2 card base 4.25" x 5.5".</li></ul><p>I hope you will join us at <a href="https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/" target="_blank">Retro Rubber for our Anything Goes challenge. </a>Thanks for stopping by! </p><p> <u>CHALLENGE GUIDELINES</u></p>
