Multnomah Falls for Nature, Naturally Retro Rubber Challenge

Our challenge for the next two weeks at Retro Rubber Challenge blog is Nature, Naturally.  With the color suggestions and knowing I had this wonderful stamp in my stash, I knew exacting what I wanted to create.  This is an image of an iconic Multnomah Falls National Recreation Site in Oregon.  It is visited by over 2 million visitors per year.  There is a historic lodge at the base that was nearly destroyed in 2017 by enormous wild fire, but was saved by firefighters dousing the lodge overnight with water from the Columbia River.  This beautiful water fall had all of it's vegetation destroyed by the fire, and the trails to the bridge and the top were deemed unstable for  over three years.  It holds a special place in the hearts of those who have visited this picturesque place including me!

  • The Multnomah Falls image by Stamp Cabana from around 1997 is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on craft cardstock.
  • EK Success Color pencils in Wedding White, Chestnut, and Baby Blue are used to color the image.  Coloring on craft cardstock makes for a stunning image.
  • The image is trimmed and mounted on a scrap of blue cardstock.
  • The sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations Thank You from 2018 and is stamped in Versa Magic Night Sky.
  • Paper Studio flag punch is used to punch the flag shape.
  • To tie the colors and card together a craft card base in A7 size is stamped with Judikins background stamp  from around 1998 in Versa Color Baby Blue.  Chalk based inks work well on craft cardstock.
  • The layers are adhered together and a card is ready for Father's day which is still a few months away.
Here is the inspiration image from Retro Rubber, have fun interpreting it in your own way!

Spring is on the Way!

Our theme for the next two weeks at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog is Spring is on the Way!Early blooming flowers are a sign that spring is right around the corner.  The sunny faces of Daffodils smiling will brighten anyone's day!  I created two of these cards, one for each of the Mothers in our family.

The stamp/die/mold Spring Daffodil set from Heartfelt Creations was released in 3/2021.  These flowers do take a bit of time create, but the end product is so worth the effort!  Heartfelt Creations has been a leader in exquisite flowers for over two decades.  Sadly the creator and owner is retiring.  If there is a flower you really love, now is the time to see if they are still available.  (I'm not in any way affiliated with HC, but have loved their products for many years!)

There are videos available on YouTube (Heartfelt Creations Spring Daffodil) to help you make these flowers, so I am going to list the supplies I used rather than describe the creation.  There is an accordion fold between the front die cut and card base, with the fence die cut mounted in the middle.  This allows the dimension of the flowers to shine.

Supplies:

  • Heartfelt Creations Spring Daffodil stamps, dies, shaping mold
  • HC Fragrant Hyacinth Stamp and die for the leaves
  • HC Spring Garden Paper collection (on card front base and tag)
  • HC Deluxe flower shaping kit
  • HC golf tool
  • HC Pastel Pollen Stamens
  • HC Teardrop Lattice Gateway die
  • HC Lattice Flourish Gateway die
  • HC Thank you sentiment stamps 9/2018
  • Memento Luxe' Dandelion
  • Memento Cantaloupe, Cottage Ivy, Pear Tart, Bamboo Leaves
  • Versa Magic Pumpkin Spice
  • Hot glue gun
  • Craft wire
  • Floral green tape
  • Paper Studio Tag Punch
  • Creative Memories Corner punch, Trimmer
  • Ofray Ribbon
  • Green, Purple, and white cardstock

Enjoy creating for Spring or in my case preparing ahead for Mother's Day!
