Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. for Retro Rubber

We recently were honored to go to a family destination wedding to Catalina Island.  What a wonderful place to enjoy family, the sights, and a very memorable wedding!  This sketch for Retro Rubber came in really handy to put together a quick but elegant card.

I went for clean and simple and incorporated the elements of the sketch

  • I have a collection of papers that are very retro, easily more than 15 years old that were purchased a Costco.  The card base is 5" x 6 1/2" and each of the layers are 1/2" smaller in dismension.
  • The sentiments are from Feb 2017 Cardmaking and Papercraft, Sincere Sentiments by SC Design.  This set has been a mainstay for elegant cards.
  • The sentiments are stamped in Delicata Silvery Shimmer then embossed with Creations Unlimited Embossing Powder in 24K Sterling.  The embossing powder is silver with gold glitter which is not only really sparkly but also pulls together the gold and silver accents in the layers.
  • The champagne glasses are a die cut from Elizabeth Craft Designs Wedding Charms 1188.  The charm loop was trimmed away and the glasses are heat embossed with matching ink and embossing powder.
  • The layers are adhered together to finish the card.
Please do join along with us at Retro Rubber.  We would love to see your creations using this great sketch.  We have two simple rules 1) Use at least one stamp older than a year and tell us how long you have had it in your stach 2) Enter up to ten (10) challenges including ours.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful crafty day!

Anything Goes for Retro Rubber

Always a favorite challenge at Retro Rubber is Anything Goes!  We have a few simple rules: 1) Use at least one stamp older than a year 2) enter up to ten challenges including Retro Rubber.

A few months (well more than a year ago now!) I made several cards using Technique Tuesday's Wild Rose from 2016.  Two others have been featured here on the blog and now the last of the set.  I used the same stamp set for the purpose of showing one stamp used in three different ways.  The first can be found here and the second here

For this card I used a water color technique and stamping the same image as the background layers.
  • Two sections of water color paper are die cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles.
  • The smaller section is stamped using a stamp positioner with the Wild Rose image using Memento Morocco ink pad and Dual Tip marker for the flower section.  It is spritzed with water to allow the ink to migrate on the paper.
  • The leaves are stamped using the same method and Memento Pistachio.
  • The panel is dried with a head gun then over stamped to create a crisp image over the top.
  • The next layer is stamped with just the flower portion and spritzed to allow the ink to migrate.
  • The Kraft cardstock base is stamped with just the leave portion of the image.
  • The sentiment (from the same set) is stamped in Memento Morocco.
  • The layers are adhered together with dimensional foam adhesive.
Altogether this is a quick card to put together and is a lot of fun to create.  Please do share your own Anything Goes creation with us at Retro Rubber!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

5th Birthday for Stick It Down Double Page Reveal

This is a great sketch that can be easily manipulated to add a few more photos.  Head on over the Stick It Down and check out the rest of the Design Team's layouts! SID also has single page and card sketches to play along with every month.

I had more photos than what the sketch called for, so I sized them down and put together the layout.

  • I choose Echo Park Paper Company's Happy Birthday Boy Collection to highlight all the bright colors in my photos.
  • Both sides of Age is Just a number is trimmed for the numbers and orange sections.
  • Birthday Hats is also used along with the Element Stickers.
  • I found some aqua colored cardstock in my stash that was a perfect match to the color scheme to use as the background for the layout.
  • The "5th" is a very old sticker font by Pebbles.
  • I had a rather long story to tell so the journaling is done on the computer.
Thanks for stopping by and do enter in and join the fun at Stick It Down!
