Anything Goes! time at Retro Rubber

Everyone's favorite to showcase your latest, greatest make!  Anything goes at Retro Rubber!

Sometimes I just take time to sit and play with my crafting stash.  This is one of those times! I also had a huge number of birthday's coming up, so there was a purposed behind creating some pretty images.

This is one of six cards created from this same stamped image.  All of the cards look different as the image was cut at differently and placed on the card front.
  • The image is Altenew's Flourishing Garden released in 2023.  The image is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.  I had a small selection of Altenew Fresh Die inks and used them to stencil in the layers.  Blue Horizons, Teal Tempest, honeydew Flow, Lemonade Stand  and Perodolite.
  • This kit include an embossing folder as well.  The cardstock I had to match wasn't large enough to create a full width card panel, so being creative I inked the edges in Teal Tempest after pressure embossing the cardstock.
  • After I decided on the placement of the floral images I trimmed the edges off of the card front and adhered the layers together.
  • I also just realized that that same Scrapbook.com Happy Birthday sentiment was also featured on a recent card here on the blog.  This time it is stamped on yellow cardstock in the Teal Tempest and die cut.

Come and have fun with us and show us what you have created that is your favorite Anything Goes!  Just a few guidelines to follow:

  • We require stamps older than one year.  If we feel you are using newer stamps, you may be disqualified from the challenge without notification.
  • New papers/dies are OK – but you must use at least one stamp older than a year and describe the age in your blog post.

CAS Card sketch for Retro Rubber

A nice clean and simple sketch to play with over at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.

This card uses several two different scraps from previous crafting sessions.

  • The vertical piece is created with the shaving cream method and All Purpose Inks on watercolor paper.  Thistle, Cerulean Blue, and Platinum were dropped on shaving cream and swirled with a toothpick.  Watercolor paper is kissed to the mixture and set aside to dry.
  • The pastel purple is created with a stencil and Fireworks! sprays in Lulu Lavender, Summer Sky, and Silvery Shimmer.
  • The sentiment is Great Impressions from Jan 2015 and is stamped in Delicata Silvery Shimmer and heat embossed with iridescent embossing powder.  The edges of the sentiment are inked and heat embossed as well.
  • Mauve cardstock is pressure embossed with Elizabeth Craft Designs Hearts Intertwined embossing folder.
  •  The layers are adhered together to finish a very clean and simple design Sympathy card.

Thank you for stopping in and please do join our fun at Retro Rubber Challenge.

Sweet Spring Flowers for Retro Rubber

Are there flowers blooming in your yard?  Not quite yet in mine here in Northern Minnesota--but soon.  I have starts going inside the house and visits to the Amish Greenhouses 45 minutes away are in the plans soon.  Our challenge at Retro Rubber for the next two weeks is to create a card with spring flowers.

I recently sat down and had a play session with a great set from Altenew in 2021, Build-a-flower Bearded Iris.  The lovely Iris comes in many colors and I experimented with several different choices.  Once I had the layering set up on my stamp platform I made eight different flowers in four different colors.

  • The leaves and stems are Memento in Pistachio, Bamboo Leaves, and Olive Grove.
  • The yellow Iris is Memento in Dandelion, Cantaloupe, and Tangelo.
  • The pink Iris is Memento in Angel Pink Lilac Posies, and Rose Bud.
  • The flowers and leaves are die cut with the matching die.
  • This background is Black-out Distressed Cardstock from Coordinations pressure embossed with Darice Damask embossing floder and then sanded to bring out the distressed green design.
  • The sentiment Happy Birthday is by Scrapbook.com from the set named the same from 2022 and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on the green side of the cardstock used to make the embossed panel.  That way it matches perfectly.  BTW if you are looking for a very versatile Birthday greeting set, the one by Scrapbook.com has about any design you could want!
  • The corners are rounded on an A2 size card, and the layers are adhered together with wet glue and allowed to dry.

One of the cards was sent to my daughter, the others are in my stash for future use!

Challenge time with a Tic Tac Toe

Another two week challenge at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.  This particular board was my choice, so super fun to play along!

The decision to use as much of the challenge of possible was easy!  I missed stitching and Sequins/gems as the card seemed complete at this point.

  •  The background is pearlized vellum pressure embossed with Darice Basket Weave embossing folder.
  • The stamp is Pink Fresh Painted Peony from March 2021.  It was stamped in Delicata Silver and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  This was one of the first stamp sets I owned that stencils were available to color the image.  Memento ink in Angel Pink, Rose Bud, Lilac Posies, Dandelion, Cantaloupe, Morocco, New Sprout, and Cottage Ivy.   The set also had a dies to match the stamps.  Very fun!
  • The Sentiment is Altenew Elegant Saying released in 2023 stamped in Delicata Silver and heat embossed to match the stamped focal image.
  • The front of the card was pierced on each edge of the vellum that was mounted to the card base.  The twine from my stash was threaded through and tied in a bow.

Your turn!  Play along with us at Retro Rubber and create your own card!

Sketch Challenge Fun at Retro Rubber

Time for a new challenge over at Retro Rubber.  Are you ready for some fun?  This sketch has several different shapes and layers to work into your card.

A few weeks back we attended a Memorial Service for a family member.  It was important to have handmade cards for each of the cousins.  This is one of the batch I created.  Plus I was able to prep a great sample for this challenge!

This card is a perfect example of using previous experiments to pull together a cohesive card with many layers.

  • The base layer is Imagine Creative Medium Interference.  This product is no longer available, I loved the result--but it dried out quickly in the jar.  There are other companies that are bringing similar product to market.  I used a Heidi Swap stencil from about 20 years ago.
  • The next layer is vellum stamped with Heartfelt Creations Large Elegant Word Background from about 2014.  It is stamped in Kaleidacolor Spectrum.
  • Watercolor paper is spritzed with Fireworks! Lilac Posies and let to dray.  It was then pressure embossed with Concord & 9th Quilted Card Front die.  Paper Studios flag punch creates the shape.  Great Impressions sentiment from 2015 is stamped in Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black and heat embossed with iridescent embossing powder.
  • A scrap of variegated gold metallic cardstock is trimmed to fit the sketch.
  • The final embellishment is a wax seal that was created from items purchased from Amazon.

Please join us and create a card with this sketch!

CHALLENGE GUIDELINES

  • We require stamps older than one year.  If we feel you are using newer stamps, you may be disqualified from the challenge without notification.

Everyone's favorite challenge, Anything Goes with Retro Rubber!

The title says it all, anything goes for a project at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog this fortnight.

I have a few oversize floral images in my stash and decided to play with one for this challenge.  It is the Altenew Bellowing Peonies from just last year, so barely a year old.  For some reason I really like peony images and this is a perfect example why!

It is almost a one layer card, and feels very sophisticated to me.

  • The Bellowing Peonies image is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
  • The matching stencils add just the right layering to the image with Memento Angel Pink, Lilac Posies, Dandelion, Cantaloupe, Bamboo Leaves, and Pear Tart.
  • Some layers are very light handed, then the subsequent layer is more heavy handed to give the subtle colored look.
  • Altenew Rustic Burlap Press Plate is used to dry emboss texture into the image.
  • The edges are distressed to give it a hand-made paper feel.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Memento Lilac Posies and die cut.  The sub-sentiment is stamped in Tuxedo Black and also die cut.  Both are mounted with two additional die cuts glued behind to create more dimension.

This card has already been mailed to it's recipient.  It was meant to bring some encouragement!

Play along with our Anything Goes, challenge at Retro Rubber--you know you want to!

Tic Tac Toe, and create a fun card for Retro Rubber!

For your crafting pleasure we have a Tic Tac Toe board at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.  Sometimes Tic Tac Toe's give me fits, because I can't narrow down my choices.  For this one zeroed in on the flowers and I was ready to go!  My cards use Die Cut, Flowers, and dry emboss row, and could also use Stencil, Metallic as my choice, and Flowers.  I threw in the dots and the sentiment is somewhat bold.  But didn't get a blackout because enamel dots didn't just fit and pink is not my favorite color.

I have had a set from Altenew, Create Your Life Project Hello Beautiful.  It was released in 2021, but I had not played with it yet!  I went with two cards, because I couldn't decide which image I liked better,  and knew I was going to cut the embossed image into two sections.

  •  The images are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black then stenciled with the matching layered stencils.  I don't know about you but I LOVE this method to add color to images!  Memento inks in Angel Pink, Rose Bud, Peanut Brittle, Dandelion, Pear Tart, and Pistachio are the color palate.
  • The images are die cut and backed with two more layers for dimension.
  • The matching embossing folder is 6 x 6.  I used half of the image for one card and the other half for the second card. Denami Designs silver metallic paper is perfect for this technique.  I wanted a bit more dimension so Darice Multi Dots was used to give some dots.   The floral embossing was refreshed by embossing a third time.
  • The edges of the A2 size card are inked in the matching Memento Rose Bud ink.
  • The layers are adhered together.
  • The sentiments are Pink Fresh Hot Foil plate Perfect Sentiments.  A black foil was used.  Just like the floral images, the sentiments are die cut and backed with two more layers.

So much fun, two cards in the time that it takes to make one!  Please join us and make your own version from this Tic Tac Toe challenge.

Sketchy Time at Retro Rubber

We have a great sketch, perfect for Valentine's Day if you still need to make a card for someone!  Check out the great makes of the Design Team at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.

So my take followed the sketch for the most part with a few additions.

I knew I had some lovely deep red suede paper that is easily 25 years old.  In that folder I found the border that must have been left over from an old project.  I had a perfect use for it!

  • The hearts are ancient Quickutz dies cut from cream cardstock and the above mentioned red suede paper.
  • Scrapbooks.com had a great layering tag die that I use ALL the time.  After die cutting black cardstock, it is run through and pressure embossed with Sizzix Scattered Hearts embossing folder.
  • The scrap bin of patterned papers yielded the perfect strip paper for the design.
  • Lawn Fawn die cut banners is stamped with a Technique Tuesday Love is all you need stamp set from 2008.  Memento Luxe Rhubarb Stalk ink is used to stamp the image and it is heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
  • The layers are adhered together and a small tied bow is the finishing touch.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope that you enjoy playing along with this sketch at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.

Retro Rubber Challenge 245 to finish 2024

Here we are at the end of another challenge blogging year at Retro Rubber!  Our last challenge is a creative Tic Tac Toe, that can be used in many ways.

This is very conducive to create a lovely Christmas card.  Some of the greenery is the same as the last challenge, but used in a very different way!  Here in Northern Minnesota  porch pots are very popular.  As of last week they all became frozen so the greens will stay all winter.  My card is a representation of a porch pots and looks similar to the one sitting on my porch!

Heartfelt Creations last day was November 30, 2024.  I've been a Platinum Member since 2013, and purchased products regularly.  This is the Winter Wreath Accents and Die from 2021.  (Yes, featured in the last challenge too!)  I choose the Ribbon or Twine/Greens/Dies or Punches diagonal to create my card.

  • The greens from HC Winter Wreath Accents are stamped in Memento Northern Pine and Cottage Ivy on various colors of green card stock.  Memento Bamboo Leaves is blended onto the images as well.  All are die cut with matching die.
  • Sizzix Small Tattered Florals die was used to create the brown branch fro cardstock.
  • Sizzix Garden Greens dies are used for addition sprigs in the arrangement.  One set is blended with Memento Cottage Ivy.
  • The pot is a punch I've own for easily 20 years!  Green shimmer paper was punched for the pot and the edges lightly inked with Memento Coffee ink.
  • The oval is die cut from the center of Kraft cardstock with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Ovals.
  • The background paper is by Hot of the Press.
  • The layers are adhered together and the "porch pot" greens are assembled and adhered with various thickness of regular and foam adhesive.
  • The sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Winter Wavy Sayings  (2019) is stamped in Memento Northern Pine on green card stock and die cut with the matching die.
  • The final touches includes Christmas Red Stickles for red berries and a bow tied from shiny red ribbon.

I hope that you enjoy playing along with us a Retro Rubber and enter your own Tic Tac Toe project!

Fall by the Lake

We have just passed the peak of our fall colors here in Northern Minnesota.  This is only my second fall living here, and experiencing a true fall color season.  Last week my husband and I took a drive to see the colors, and discovered that some of the best were right in our backyard, well along the small highway and street we live on!  We also put our boat away for the season and I had to stop driving the boat to take some photos of the colors along the shoreline that were simply amazing.  So blessed!  At Retro Rubber each design team member choose our challenges throughout the year.  This is my theme challenge!  Perfect timing!

I choose a few old school ways to create this fall card to convey the beauty of nature around us.  It was really fun to create and color this card.

  • The image is Stampendous 1995 is stamped on velour paper in Memento Tuxedo Black.
  • The image is colored with Prisma colored pencils.
  • The image is adhered by using a slot punch to mount to cream cardstork.
  • The edges of the cream cardstock is outlined in a metallic gold pen.
  • Another layer of brown cardstock mounted behind before being mounted to a light green card base.

Please do come and play along with us at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog!  We do have a few guidelines we ask you follow:

Fall SketchyTime at Retro Rubber

Another two weeks for a fun sketch to use up scraps in your stash at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.  Patterned paper, specialty paper or in my case, scraps of paper I have inked with various methods over the years.

Several stamps were used in the creation of this card.  First is an ancient rubber brayer that creates a gauze look background.  It is at least 20 years old!  Pink Ink for Impression Obession Falling Leaves stamp and die set was released in 2018.  The sentiment is by Boxer Scrapbooking release in 2007 named Celebrations.

Since many of these "experiments" were done over the last 15 years or so, the colors listed are the most probable colors . . . my color swatch book was very helpful in identification.

  •  Top left and bottom left are from the same scrap.  A foam brayer was used to add color from Kaliedacolor Autumn Leaves.
  • The next section also appears twice uses a solid rubber brayer and Kaliedacolor Autumn Leaves.  Really a different look.
  • The yellow section was the accidental spill of Fireworks! in Dandelion Yellow.  It has a wonderful shimmer.  The spill happened on my craft mat, and was soaked up with white cardstock.
  • The yellow orange sections are Faber Castelle Gelatos on white cardstock, which are blended with water.
  • The bottom left is Faber Castelle Gelatos on brown cardstock.
  • The white with swirls was an experiment with foam shaving cream and All Purpose Inks in Vegas Gold, Chocolate, and Black Pearl.
  • The ancient gauze patterned brayer also used Kaliedacolor Autumn Leaves.  The inside edge was trimmed with Creative Memories 12-inch Trimmer and the Deckle trimmer blade.
  • The sections are trimmed to various sizes and adhered on the A-2 card base.  The remainder is trimmed from the back to line up with the card base.
  • The center circle is Falling Leaves embossing folder inked in Memento Potters Clay and pressure embossed.  It was a little messy, but works perfection in this sketch as a background.  Spellbinders Standard Circle die was used to die cut the circle.
  • The leaf in the center is Fireworks! in Dandelion Yellow, Tangelo, and Rich Cocoa spritzed on white cardstock.  Pink Ink for Impression Obession Falling Leaves stamp is stamped in Tuxedo black and die cut.   Boxer Scrapbooking's Happy Birthday is stamped in Memento Luxe Morocco and heat embossed with Terra Cotta (manufacturer unknown) embossing powder. Another die cut is glued behind to add some dimension.

I hope you enjoyed this little foray into the uses of different mediums to create a cohesive look.  You never know when an experiment goes well, it could be featured in a future project with left over scraps!

Fall Color Challenge at Retro Rubber

For our challenge at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog the colors are slightly non-traditional for fall.  It was really fun to come up with a design that is fallish as Dahlias are still blooming this time of year.

It is so fun to enjoy my Dahlias this time of year.  I once had a neighbor who was a Dahlia aficionado, and grew about 30 kinds of dinner plate Dahlias.   He would share his beautiful blooms.  This card uses Pinkfresh Dahlia Bunch from October 2021.  So Pinkfresh also likes Dahlias in the fall too.  I didn't want to use the entire image on one card so it is carefully trimmed to place on two cards.  Since coloring is so easy with matching stencils I actually made a set of four cards!

First card using the lower part of the image.

Second card using the upper part of the image.

  • The Pinkfresh Dahlia image is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.
  • The coordinating stencils are used to add Memento Dandelion Yellow, Cantaloupe, Morocco, Summer Sky, and Teal Zeal.
  • The stamped image is die cut with the matching die, then trimmed into two pieces.  A second die cut is glued to the back to give a bit of dimension.
  • Cuttlebug Basket Weave embossing folder is inked up in Memento Morocco and the background is pressure embossed.  The Basket Weave is highlighted by direct to paper inking in Memento Dandelion Yellow.
  • The A-2 card base is inked in Memento Teal Zeal to match the leaves.
  • All the layers are adhered together.
This is another card that I want to wait until I send it to add the sentiment.  I have two friends battling breast cancer, and I try to send them sweet snail mail about once a month.  I may also use a few as thank you cards.

Tic Tac Toe Thank you card for Retro Rubber

A very fun Tic Tac Toe at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog for the next two weeks.  Honestly, sometimes I struggle with Tic Tac Toe challenges because there are too many choices.

I purchased an Altenew set "Beautiful Life" from 2021, and had to play with all the elements!  I do like that it has matching Stamps, Die and Stencils, as well as an Embossing Folder.

The vertical line of stencil, heat/dry emboss, and metallics was the inspiration for this card.
  • The image is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • Stencils are used to ink the flower in Memento Dandelion and Cantaloupe, the leaves in Memento Pear Tart and Bamboo Leaves.
  • The image is die cut.
  • Another Altenew set added the gold leaves.  "Leafy Splendor" from 2024.  The leaves are die cut from gold metallic paper then pressure embossed with the matching embossing folder.
  • Beautiful Life embossing folder is used to pressure emboss Color Core cardstock.  The surface is sanded to allow the shadow image to pop in orange.
  • The same cardstock is used to create the matching sentiment die cut, using the reverse side.  Altenew Elegant Sayings is stamped in Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black and heat embossed with black detailed embossing powder then die cut.  Additional die cuts adhered to the back create a raised sentiment with a hint of white outline.
  • The card is assembled and an A-2 card base.

Slimline Sketch at Retro Rubber

It is time for a new challenge at Retro Rubber.  This is the sketch I provided for the challenges, a Slimline design.

I had a specific stamp in mind when I designed this sketch.  Then wouldn't you know it I couldn't find it!  I did eventually locate it, an image by Creative Companion released in 2021 along with three other script and block images designed to work together.

For this card I went to my stash of "techniques tried and not used" cardstock.  Then decided to pull from a variety of greens.  (My handy color charts allowed me to identify the inks used, but since the samples were created over last 10 years or so, I may not be absolutely correct :))
  • The background for the sentiment is water color paper that is brayered with Kaleidacolor Fresh Green.  Most likely it was spritzed with water to allow the colors to blend seamlessly.
  • The narrow stripe is spritzed with Shimmer Mist in Sparkle then pressure embossed with a basket weave embossing folder.  Memento Bamboo Leaves was applied to the raised areas of the paper.
  • The far right piece was bayered with Electric Blue Radiant Neon ink with a foam brayer.  It was embossed with a dots embossing folder and the raised areas inked with Electric Green Radiant Neon ink.  Radiant Neon inks are pigment based and have a softer look.
  • All three sections are trimmed and adhered to the Slimline card base.
  • "Birthday" is stamped in Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black and heat embossed with ultra fine black embossing powder.
  • "HAPPY" is stamped over the birthday in Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black.
  • Crafty Medley Green sequins are adhered then topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss Ebony.

I do hope you will join us at Retro Rubber with the challenge!  It would be a blast to see how you interpret my sketch!

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy time at Retro Rubber

Ah, the taste of fresh homemade lemonade . . . tangy sweet summer time drink!  Our challenge for the next two weeks at Retro Rubber Blog challenge is a color challenge, with the sample incorporating lemons.

I choose to stay with the lemon theme with Hero Arts "Zest Wishes" from 2020.  I don't own the die set for this stamp collection, but it was easy peasy enough to fussy cut the images!

  • The images were stamped in Nocturne Versa Fine Clair and heat embossed with black embossing powder on white cardstock.
  • The images were water colored with Memento Dandelion and Cantaloupe.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Versa Color Cyan and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
  • Spellbinders Standard Circles large was used to die cut the circles, one from yellow vellum.  (I like how the yellow vellum over blue gives a greenish hue!)
  • The background is blue cardstock has texture from the Taylored Expressions Pierced Circles Cutting Plate.
  • Two of the images were fussy cut and the entire card is adhered together.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  We hope you play along with our challenge at Retro Rubber Blog Challenge.

Tic Tac Toe! Friendship card

Spring is inching happily towards us!  At Retro Rubber Challenge Blog we have a fun Tic Tac Toe and it happens to be my contributed challenge.  Often I have a hard time with Tic Tac Toe challenges, as I overthink the process.  But once I got going on this one I was able to check all the squares off, and complete a black out, well I guess that's a bingo term!

This is the challenge image to create your card or project.

My card was created using the following:
  •  The die cut is Stitched Ovals from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  It is die cut from white cardstock and stamped with Hero Arts 2009 Friends are Flowers in Memento Luxe Pear Tart and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  Fireworks! Bamboo leaves is gently tapped over the image to add some depth and painted into the leaves. Small die cuts from Sizzix Tim Hotlz Tattered Flowers are die cut from scraps of cardstock to put over the stamped flower.
  • The pink shimmer card stock is first die cut with the Stitched Ovals from Elizabeth Craft Designs then pressure embossed with Darice Petal Background embossing folder.  With a white core paper, the flowers are distressed with a sanding block as well as the edges.  K & Company adhesive gems are added to a few of the flower's centers.
  • The card base has Fireworks! Bamboo leaves gently tapped around the edges to pair with the focal image.
  • The layers are adhered together to the card base, taking care the the oval is placed the same direction as it was die cut.  Even with symmetrical dies they are not perfect!
  • Sheer purple ribbon is tied into a small bow and adhered to the card.

How fun is that?  Sometimes a Tic Tac Toe board can inspire the next little detail on your card!

Sketch time at Retro Rubber Mine's a Valentine

Here we are very close to Valentine's day and it was easy to use this sketch from Retro Rubber Challenge Blogto create a sweet Valentine.

I had fun with an old sentiment set from Technique Tuesday, All You Need is Love from 2008 and a Spellbinders Inspire Love Vine.

  • Pink shimmer cardstock is trimmed to 4" x 5 1/2" and pressure embossed with Sizzix 3-D Confetti Hearts.  This is a very textured embossing folder and it photographs in an interesting way!
  • The Spellbinders Inspire Love Vine die is used to die cut metallic silver paper.
  • Lawn Fawn's Simple Wavy Banners is die cut from white cardstock.  The banner is placed back into the cardstock and then stamped.
  • Technique Tuesday's All You Need is Love from 2008 is stamped in Delicata Silvery Shimmer.
  • The card is adhered together with the banner raised up with dimensional foam adhesive.
  • Sequins add the final touches and complete the sketch.

Do join us at Retro Rubber and submit your rendition of the sketch for RRBC 224.

Sketch Time for a Halloween Birthday

Sketches are great way to  a quick start on a card.  The challenge at  Retro Rubber for the next two weeks is to use this sketch!

My sister-in-law has a Halloween birthday, so I typically make her an appropriate themed card.  This year I used the sketch for my inspiration.

I used all scraps from my color bins to create this card, it went together really quickly!

  • Darice Crackle Embossing Folder is used on yellow-orange card stock then the texture is popped with a direct inking of VersaFine Vintage Sepia.
  • A mat is trimmed from darker orange card stock.  The sentiment by Hero Arts It's Your Day 3/2015 is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.
  • The witch's hat is die cut with a Cheery Lynn Design die, Witch Hunt.
  • Pumpkins are stamped on lighter orange cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black with Joy Clair Trick or Treat stamp set from 2016.  They are die cut using a Brother ScanNCut.
  • The stems are colored with Chameleon Burnt Umber.
  • The layers are adhered together with the sentiment and pumpkins with dimensional foam tape.

I also wanted to share the interior of the card:

  •  The witch is from the Cheery Lynn Design Witch Hunt, die cut at the same time as the hat on the front of the card.
  • Silhouette Design Store font BIC Trick or Treat Regular is the fun sentiment on the inside of the card.
I am really pleased with the final result, and it was super fun create a card I know my sister-in-law will enjoy!  Please join us at Retro Rubber and play along with this quick and easy sketch!

Tag, you're it! from Retro Rubber

The challenge at Retro Rubber for the next two weeks is to use a tag on your project.  This leaves a great deal of wiggle room!   Please check out the Design Team's interpretations of this challenge.

I have a 4" x6" box of miscellaneous tags that were the inspiration of my card.  To fit the longer tag I decided on a slimline card size of 3 1/2 x 8 1/2".

  •  I choose a stamp from Unity Stamp Company's . . . birthday jubilee set from July of 2013.  It is stamped in Memento Peanut Brittle.  All of the tags are also inked with Peanut Brittle.
  • To add a little interest to the next tag I used the Paper Studio Stars embossing folder, then directly inked the raised stars with Peanut Brittle.
  • The last tag has Burlap Ribbon adhered, a bit of ephemera found in the latest cleanup of my craft desk.  Fits perfectly!
  • I pulled out AC Twine in dark brown, then Darice in neutral and tied bows on each tag.
  • All the layers are adhered together and I have an easy peasy quick masculine birthday card ready to go!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope your summer is going well!  Please do enter you project in the gallery over at Retro Rubber Blog Challenge!
