DT Entry for Heartfelt Creations

I truly enjoyed my crafting endeavor for the Heartfelt Creations DT, this is the card that I submitted.  They have wonderful products and a great company.  I did not make it as a semi-finalist this year . . . but maybe in the future?  Enjoy!

Other Products:  Spellbinders Decorative Labels One, Grand Labels One, Decorative Labels One; 3 sheets coordinating cardstock; Colorbox Deep Green, Pumpkin Spice, and Burnt Sienna; Suze Wienberg’s Mini Mosaics Blue Ice; silk ribbon; foam adhesive.  

Trim Sun Kissed Fluer patterned paper to 4” x 12”.  Score and accordion fold at 2”, 4”, 8”, 10”.   Score an X shape between 2” and 6”, 6” and 10”.  Train folds to make explosion card base.  Trim ¾” from end tabs.  Die cut 1 of the smallest Grand Labels One of Sun Kissed Fleur paper.  Die cut 1 of Sun Kissed Fleur paper and one of cardstock of largest Labels One.  Use Decorative Labels One to make border lace from the cardstock Labels one.  Die cut 1 cardstock and 2 Sun Kissed Fleur paper of medium Decorative Labels One.  Die cut 1 cardstock and 1 Sun Kissed Fleur paper of small Decorative Labels One.  Stamp sentiments on cardstock die cuts.  Trim 2 of the Sun Kissed Fleur paper Decorative Labels One die cuts and 1 Sun Kissed Fleur paper Label One to fit into the folds of the explosion card.  Ink all edges before adhering to card.  Ink ribbon to match and adhere prior to placing front of card.  Adhere lace border to largest die cut and cut in half for the front of the card.  Assemble card base and die cuts.  Die cut 3 sets of leaf sprigs from Gift Ensemble.  Sponge ink leaf sprigs.  Stamp and die cut 3 sets of Sun Kissed Fleur striped flowers and leaves in coordinating cardstock.  Cut 2 sets of mini flowers from the Gift Assemble set.  Sponge ink, shape and assemble flowers and petals.  Apply Mini Mosiacs and let flowers dry.  Adhere flowers to the card.  Upper left flower is attached with a double layer of foam tape to allow card to slip together.

Cardstock, dies, ink, stamp, and adhesive

Five crafting supplies and a beautiful card!  I started with Radiant Rectangles die from Spellbinders and cut several layers.  I inked some layers before I removed the die and then used the same ink, Encore Ultimate Metallic Blue to stamp the Scrappy Cat sentiment.   Foam tape added the extra dimension.  

Using up the stash

Boxes Scrapbooking is now sadly no longer in business, but I have some great papers in my stash that fit this theme perfectly!  I used a vellum title I found in my stash and finished the page with die cuts using Spellbinders circles, Lacey Circles and a Sizzix decorative strip.

Simple pages

My Minds Eye Academy had a great paper for school.  I didn’t want to use the pattern going the same direction so I used it as a design element.  (Shhhh, there was a part of the design on the paper I didn’t like, so I creatively put the layout together so it is not obvious.)   The title is a Technique Tuesday font.  

Stretching Supplies

Since I have two sons, I wanted to make the same layout for both boys.  I have been limiting myself to not buying two or more of every sheet of patterned paper that I like, and this time I made it work!

I backed the layouts on black card stock and dry embossed the aqua card stock for texture.  I found ric rak in my stash that that was a perfect match.  With one sheet of patterned paper and two of the aqua I think I accomplished my goal of stretching my supplies by a creative design. 

Quick and Easy Father's day cards

It was time to play with some of my tried but true supplies.  I made several of these cards, to send to my Dad and Father-in-Law, but also to give as a gift to a friend who is ill for her giving purposes.

I started with an Art Impressions Lighthouse Stamp stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in quickly with blender and pastel chalk.  What I like about pastels is that if you don’t like what you get . . . you can erase it and start over!  It is then framed with a Spellbinder Grand Labels Four die.  The sentiment is from Studio G and stamped on a matching Labels Four die with inked edges. 

I typically like my masculine cards to be less fussy.  This card was quick and easy as well as classic and clean.

Let's Fly

Slowly I am working through photos of my two boys . . . now home just over 4 years.  It is a blast to see how much they have changed and remember some of the firsts!

My younger son has always loved airplanes and RC airplanes is no exception. 

I used the coordinating set from Imagnisce Let’s Roll.  The banner is hand-cut and the title is a Quickutz font Ginger
