Color My World RRBC

We have wonderful color challenge for the next two weeks at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.  Please stop by the RRCB and see all the wonderful creations by the Design Team, they really knocked it out of the park this go around.

I decided I wanted to create a background with my colors, and did so by stamping on vellum in Memento Luxe Wedding White ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder.  The image is by Stamp Out Cute which I purchased in 1998 at the Portland Stamp Convention.  It is colored from behind with Memento Dual Markers in Cottage Ivy, Lady Bug, Paris Dusk, and Cantaloupe.  The edges of the card base are colored with Paris Dusk.  Yellow cardstock is die cut with Sizzix Framelits Drop-Ins 660143.  The Birthday Wishes didn’t pop enough so I colored a section of cardstock with Lady Bus and placed it behind the sentiment.  The vellum is adhered to the yellow cardstock frame and then to the card base.

Family Love in Pink

The color challenge for the month of February at Imagine was to use Rose Pink, this is my interpretation of the challenge.  Check out the tutorial over on the Imagine Blog today!

One snowy afternoon in December we had an amazing family photo shoot, the lighting was perfect with just a hint of snow flashing through our photos.  (A little patience and lots of shots with a tripod and delay shutter can get yield a Christmas card worthy image.)  I was really pleased with this photo and wanted to highlight it for our color challenge this month at Imagine.  Changing the image to black and white really makes the light pink accent color pop. The subtle color of Creative Medium in Iridescent Pink behind the photo helps tie the layout together as well as creating a shimmery color for black die cuts.  A little texture complemented the design by pressure embossing and staining a strip of Vertigo. Memento Angel Pink glossy die cut accents add the finishing details.

This project is now proudly hanging in my home for all to enjoy!

Time for a new challenge at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog!  It is an easy one, just get out your favorite-older-than-a-year-stamps and create a card or project to celebrate a birthday!  Don't forget to tell us how old your stamp is and enter 10 or fewer challenges with your creation!

This is the front of my card, using a Sizzix sentiment Birthday set from 2014 by Stephanie Bernard.  The pop up card die is also by Sizzix.  The cake and candles are from Stephanie's newest set, Stamps of Life Cake2set.  I just couldn't resist combining the old with the new!  I colored my cake and candles with Chameleon pens.  The confetti paper is from my stash.

The inside sentiment is also from the same set from 2014.  I had a blast putting together this fun card.  Do stop by and show us your birthday project over at Retro Rubber Blog challenge!

Seascape water colored with Fireworks!

Imagine now has Fireworks in 2 once bottles!  Hurray!  There is also an agitator in the bottle that makes it so easy to mix the shimmer back into the solution.  The Imagine blog is featuring several projects today that include this wonderful seascape that I water colored with Fireworks.  Go check all the amazing project out over at Imagine!

Last summer I purchased a set of dies I just HAD to have, without really knowing when I would use them in the future.  Every crafter has those shopping moments!  When the Fireworks challenge was announced, I had the perfect way to showcase both the dies and the wonderful color palette of the Fireworks sprays with this under the sea diorama.  Fireworks can be used as water colors with water color paper and a little water spray.  It was so much fun to create a multilayered scene with just die cuts, Fireworks, and a Pico Embellisher.  The Fireworks adds just the right amount of shimmer to make the fantasy come alive!

Hearts of Gold Valentine

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and over at Imagine's blog today is a card I created for the Hearts of Gold challenge.

There are so many choices of Imagine products to create with when meeting the challenge of creating a golden heart.  I choose to use one of my favorites, Delicate Golden Glitz embossed with Clear Embossing powder.  Deckled edges add to the soft touch along with the whimsical hearts and sweet sentiment.  A bit of Memento in Angel Pink adds just the blush of color to finish the card.

A Little Love Song Valentine

I enjoy giving hand-made Valentine’s Day cards, and had some time this weekend to craft away in my craft cave!  DH and DS are busy upstairs building models.  The winter sunshine and slightly higher temperatures are finally starting to melt the snow from Snowmagedon here in Central Oregon, so we are satisfied to stay inside and play!  I choose sketch to play along with for this card from Sketch Saturday, along with CAS-ual Fridays’ Music to my Ears challenge, and a color challenge from Color Throwdown.

The chocolate brown background was originally for another card but was a bit too busy, so it shows up on this Valentine!  DCWV cardstock is pressure embossed with Cuttlebug’s Hugs & Kisses and sanded with a sanding block.  Vellum was stamped with CAS-ual Friday’s Love Notes in Memento Lady Bug and heat set.  The pink cardstock is stamped with with CAS-ual Friday’s Love Notes and Heart Beats images in Memento Lady Bug.  The shadowing inked edges are created using an Ink Blusher.  I adhered the pink cardstock to the vellum to determine where to adhere the vellum to the card and not have the adhesive show through, just a little trick when using vellum on your card.

Life Would b Flat Valentine

I had some down time to sit and create a few Valentine’s Day cards, and decided to play along with a few challenges for the inspiration.  I have a nice collection of the musical series from CAS-ual Fridays, and their Music to my Ears challenge was a great starting point.  Add in a sketch challenge from Try Stampin’ On Tuesday, and a color challenge from Color Throwdown and away I went.

I started with a chocolate brown cardstock (DCWV) and used the Fri-die Double Notes to emboss the card panel.  The edges and embossed sections are distressed with a sanding block.  A piece of white cardstock was stamped with Brilliance Rocket Red and the musical staff from the CAS-ual Friday Love Notes stamp set.  The edges are just barely inked.  A shimmery finish to the vellum was achieved by inking with Memento Lilac Posies and stamping with CAS-ual Friday’s Big Treble sentiment before heat embossing with clear embossing powder.  A slightly smaller backing square was added to make sure the sentiment would be readable.  The banner is hand-cut and stamped with the sentiment also from the Love Notes stamp set.  Inking the edges help define the little banner.  The Double Note Fri-die is die cut 4 times.  The top die cut is heat embossed with Brilliance Rocket Red and clear embossing powder.  The stack is adhered together with On Point Glue.

Little Black Valentine

You know, kind of like a LBD or Little Black Dress?  I am playing along with a color challenge and decided that using black for the predominant color would not be such a bad thing and I love how this Valentine turned out!

I started out with solid black cardstock that is pressure embossed with Sizzix Hearts and Dots embossing folder.  Three small hearts were die cut from my very old but well-loved Quickutz Mini Hearts.  The two plain hearts were then pressure embossed with Quickutz Goosebumps Hearts.  The Goosebumps designs are tiny and perfect for small die cuts.  A strip of plain white cardstock is edged in Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy, which is also used to stamp a very old (2004) Studio G stamp by Lynette Anderson.  An easy peasy, quick Valentine ready to go in the mail!
