Summery Tic Tac Toe

Tic Tac Toe challenges can help you narrow down choices when making a card.  We have a fun one for you over at Retro Rubber.  When looking at this challenge I zeroed in on the right column and went looking through my stash.

After a short search for a stamp with both a butterfly and a flower I settled on an old set from Local King Rubber Stamps released in 2014.  I bought it at a stamp convention in Portland, Oregon about that time.  

 

This style of stamp is perfect for a direct coloring on the rubber stamp technique.  Memento Dual Tip Markers, a water based marker are used to color on the stamp.  I find it best to stamp layers or sections of the stamp to get the best results.  It is key to use your breath to revive the moisture in the ink, spray mists are too aggressive for the fine lines of this particular stamp.  A smooth cardstock is important for a good image like Bristol cardstock. 

• The leaves are colored in Cottage Ivy with a touch of Pear Tart.  The flower centers are Cantaloupe. 
• The next layer included Lulu Lavender and Lilac Posies.
• The Butterfly is Summer Sky, Bahama Blue, and Paris Dusk, along with Pear Tart for the body and antennae.   
• Matching dies are used to die the images.
• To create the frame Scrapbook.com's  Nested Rick Rack frame is used.  
• The first layer is sponges in Memento Pear Tart, the inside is sponges in Memento Cantaloupe.  
• The Rick Rack layer is die cut a total of three times and the top layer is a Die Cuts With a View Purple Metallic cardstock.
• The sentiment is Taylored Expression's In & Out Birthdays from 2014.  It is stamped in Memento Cottage Ivy.
• The layers are adhered to the card base with wet glue.  The Butterfly has foam adhesive to create some dimension.

I am very pleased with the finished card.  A lovely lady from my church will be the recipient of this card.
