Three Dimensional Vertigo Ornaments

It is so fun to create a beautiful ornament during the busy Christmas holiday.  I often craft hand-made gifts for friends or co-workers to celebrate the season, as well as new ornaments for our personal Christmas tree.  This Vertigo ornament is also perfect for an ornament exchange and is easy to produce with just a few supplies and tools.

Endless Anniversary Card

We will be celebrating eleven years of wedded bliss tomorrow, so it was time to create a fun Anniversary card for my dear husband.  The endless card design is wonderful as a Valentine, or any other special occasion!  This is a great YouTube tutorial on how to get started and where to glue the sides together.  I will add in a few suggestions to make the folding go a bit more smoothly. 

EDITED to add:  My husband says "This is the BEST card ever!", now you have to understand he is an aerospace engineer and likes clean simple aerodynamic lines along with the kinematic design and motion of the card.

1.     Trim black card stock into four 6" x 6" squares.  Score at 1.5", 3", and 4.5 inches in one direction, turn a quarter turn and score at 1.5" and 4.5".

2.     Place the center score line on the horizontal axis.  Die cut Impression Obsession DIE 056J heart from red card stock.  Set aside complete hearts for another side of the card.  Die cut a stack of four Post-It notes as masks and places randomly on black card stock.  Lightly spray with Sheer Shimmer Spritz and remove masks.  Heat set or set aside to dry.  When dry adhere heart die cut with wet adhesive to secure all sections.

3.     Alternate the direction of the center score line to vertical for the second panel.  Die cut outline of Technique Tuesdays Say It Happy in red card stock.  Stamp "happy" from the coordinating Say It Happy stamp set with Encore Ultimate Metallic Silver.  Heat set ink and adhere to center of card.  Encore is a slow drying ink, heat setting at each step will speed up the process.  Stamp "wishing you a" above "happy" and "anniversary" below.  Stamp hearts in a random pattern of hearts around sentiment.

4.     Alternate back to the horizontal orientation for the center score line on this panel.  Die cut "hugs" outline from Technique Tuesdays Say It Hugs, and stamp coordinating in Encore Ultimate Metallic Silver.  Gently stamp "hugs" in a random pattern occasionally re-inking stamp.  Stamp "sending lots of" and "& kisses" above and below.

5.     The score line is on the vertical axis on the final panel.  Stamp large "love" from Technique Tuesdays All You Need Is Love set.  Mask "love you" with repositionable tape on the sentiment and ink stamp. Remove tape and stamp above love.  Clean the stamp and repeat to stamp just the "you" below.  Adhere small red card stock hearts reserved from the earlier die cut.  A few more were die cut to add to the pattern.  Take care to NOT adhere die cuts on score lines.

6.     Fold along all score lines and trim along center lines.  Adhere together following this YouTube video tutorial.  Pause video at each step if needed.  Round corners of card with Zutter Round-It-All.

Get Well card for Ruby's Rainbow Challenges

For the next fortnight at Ruby’s Rainbow Challenges our challenge is to create a Get Well card.  Get well cards are good to have available as we often can not plan ahead for times when a card of this type is needed.  A few months ago I purchased this great image set from Heartfelt Creations from the All Geared Up collection.  I own a few other images from this collection and the die set and this was a great image set to add to my stash.  It makes for a lovely card!

1.     Select a 5” x 7” card front from the All Geared Up paper collection and trim to size.  Trim white card stock base to 7” x 10”, score and fold in half.  Adhere card front to card base.

2.     From paper in the collection use the All Geared Up die set to die cut 4 of the smallest gear flowers, 1 each of the other gear flowers, 3 of the leaves, and 2 sets of chain links.

3.     Use a stamp positioner to stamp the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black in the center of the card panel.

4.     Shape the flowers and leaves and lightly daub on the Versa Mark ink pad and dip in Copper embossing powder then heat emboss. 

5.     Snip slits in half of the the chain links and assemble sections of chain.  Use small sections of repositionable tape to hold the slits together.  Lightly daub on the Versa Mark ink pad and dip in Copper embossing powder then heat emboss. 

6.     Use a pair of tweezers to hold each brad and coat with Versa Mark ink and dip in Copper embossing powder then heat emboss. 

7.      Assemble flowers and adhere to card front with dimensional foam adhesive.  Adhere chain sections and leaves with small glue dots. 

8.     If more copper embossing powder is desired on different elements, use a Fatastix to lightly daub Versa Mark ink pad sprinkle Copper embossing powder then heat emboss.

Angel Tri Shutter for the Ho Ho Ho Holidays!

In the spirit of the season the challenge for the next two weeks at Retro Rubber Blog Challenge is Ho Ho Ho Holidays.  

 For those of you that know me well, it will not surprise you that this card includes an angel.  I have collected angels for at least 40 years, and this image is from 1998! Tri Shutter cards are fun to put together and by using a combination of inks on different panels the card is easily color coordinated.

1.   The blue base card is 7" x 12" and is scored from edge to edge at 4", 8", and 10" marks.  At the 2" and 12# score from the edge to the 2" mark from the edge.  Accordion fold into the card into shape.

2.    Trim two of each of the following: (a)1.75" x 6.75" white card stock, (b)1.75" x 1.75" white card stock, (c)1.75" x 1.75" silver card stock, (d)1.75" x 2.75" white card stock, and (e)1.75" x 3.75" silver card stock.  Trim one of (f)2.75" x 3.75".

3.    Stamp Denami Designs Angel image on white card stock with Encore Ultimate Metallic Silver and heat emboss with silver pearl embossing powder.  Line up Spellbinders Labels Nine and hold in place with repositionable tape.  Die cut image.  Use Fantastix to color the image with Versa Magic in Pixie Dust, Thatched. Straw, Spring Pansy, Sea Breeze, and Encore Silver.

4.    Die cut and pressure emboss silver card stock with the larger Spellbinders Labels Nine.

5.    Ink one (a) and (d) sections with an ink dauber and Spring Pansy. 

6.    On the second (a) stamp the Denami Design Sentiment (also 1998) in Encore Silver and heat emboss with silver pearl embossing powder.  Stamp Neato Stuff Stars (1991) in Versa Magic Sea Breeze and Encore Silver above and below the sentiment, and ink around the edges with Encore Silver.

7.    On sections (b) and (f) stamp Neato Stuff Stars (1991) in Versa Magic Sea Breeze and Encore Silver, ink around the edges with Encore Silver.

8.    Pressure emboss (c) and (e) with Darice Star Border embossing folder.

9.    Assemble section of card as illustrated and adhere.  The front image is only adhered to the left side of the panel to allow the card to open and close.

December Birthday ATC

Hello faithful blog followers!  It seems that I had my wonderful announcement just before Thanksgiving then fell off the face of blogland!  Not to worry, just living the holiday life with my family and substituting a few days the following week.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving that included butchering and plucking our own homegrown turkey.  It was super yummy!  On Black Friday we supported the local economy by going shopping and found some incredible deals.  We have also attended 2 all day wrestling tournaments with our boys.  Add in a day trip to Portland for a Singing Christmas Tree performance, and that made for a very busy few days.  I am thankful for the down time to craft again this weekend after a busy, busy, busy 10 days or so!  Today I am sharing the last of the series of Birthday ATCs that will go postal to it’s recipient.  I enjoy using pieces of past projects that reside in a scrap bin on my craft table and this is no exception.

1.     Glossy white card stock is inked with Kaleidacolor in Berry Blaze using a brayer and Ink Potion No. 9.  The desired section trimmed to 2.5” x 3.5” the standard ATC size.

2.     Another section is die cut with Spellbinders Labels Eight.

3.     Spritz matte white card stock with Fireworks in Lilac Posies, Lulu Lavender, Summer Sky.  Set aside to dry.  Stamp Inkadinkado Just Saying sentiment in Versa Magic Eggplant and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.  Die cut Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight.

4.     Die cut 4 small snowflakes from vellum with Spellbinders Create A Flake One and Three.  The center of the largest is the 5^th snowflake.

5.     Adhere small labels together and mount to the ATC with dimensional foam adhesive.  Adhere 3 snowflakes directly to the ATC using wet adhesive.  Adhere the remaining 2 with dimensional foam adhesive.
