Fall Color Challenge

A wonderful fall color challenge is on tap for our new Retro Rubber Blog Challenge.

I was inspired by a fellow AIR over at Imagine to create this version of a clean and simple birthday card.  It came together in about 15 minutes!

Step One:
Determine size of front panel and use a deckle edge ruler to tear water color paper to size.  Spritz with Ink Potion No. 9.  Ink Yvonne Albrition Designs Marble from about 1999 with Kaleidacolor Tomato Vine and stamp.  Ink will bleed around main stamp image.  Dab off excess with paper towel.

Step Two:
Mask unwanted portion of sentiment stamp from the Hero Arts Many Birthday Messages with tape and ink with StazOn Saddle Brown.  Remove tape and stamp sentiment in the lightest color section of the stamped image.

Step Three:
Use a deckle edged ruler to tear hand-made paper to size to fit the front of an A7 Kraft card and adhere.  Tie decorative fiber around card and mount to front of card.

The supplies used to make this quick card.

Please come join us at Retro Rubber and try your hand at this color challenge!

  1. Neva, this is superb! As one of my friends would say it is wonderfully artsy fartsy :) I love those rough edges, I did not know a deckle edge ruler existed..Clairex

  2. This is a really fun birthday card, Neva! Love your choice of colors from the inspiration photo. I might even have a deckle edged ruler around here somewhere - will be CASEing this card when/if I can find it!

  3. Love the bold colors and fuzzy texture of your card, Neva. I keep saying that I need to pull out some of my knitting fibers... this is a wonderful way to use them!!

  4. Superb is right! I love the paper and colors you choose - both are so soft and texturey! All natural!

  5. Oh WOW!! Love all the awesome texture on this card Neva, I need to get some of this Kaleidacolor inks, the bleeding effect on this paper is gorgeous.
I also never heard of this types of rulers, MUST look into that also.
    Beautiful card indeed!!!

  6. I just love it when a card so pretty comes together so quickly! Beautiful colors. I've been enjoying my Fun Fibers lately. Sheesh, I think I might still have one of those rulers, too!
