Thank you with a few stripes for Retro Rubber

It is always fun to use a few stripes in your cards and scrapbook pages, they add a bit of visual interest.  Our challenge at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog is:

Great collections from Quick Quotes often include a stripe pattern that ties all the colors together in the collection.  Here I used the Spring Showers Collection for this card.

  • I based my choice of dimensions for this card on the size of the sentiment.  To fit the elements I went with an A7 size card base.
  • The striped section of is trimmed to 1 3/4" and inked the edges with Powder Puff Chalking Ink in Rusty Nail.
  • The floral section is trimmed to 3" and inked the edges with PPCI in Rusty Nail.
  • The sentiment from the Thanks stamp set from 2014 by Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix is stamped in PPCI in Capri Blue on a piece of coral cardstock.  It is die cut with the center oval from the Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles then edged with PPCI in Capri Blue.
  • The two pennants are about 1/2" wide and the ends are die cut with a combination of Spellbinders Classic Petal and Classic Decorative Inserts Two Edgeabilities.  The edges are inked with PPCI in Capri Blue.  The pennants are trimmed to match the curve of the die cut.
  • The two backing layers are adhered together and the pennants are adhered.
  • Craft thread is wrapped around the layers and adhered.  Three strands of craft thread are tied into a bow and adhered.  The sentiment is adhered.
  • The outer edges of the card are inked in PPCI in Capri Blue.
  • I thought it needed a bit more so I pulled out a small wooden heart to add the final embellishment.
Thank you so much for stopping by (pun intended).  Please do come by and play along with us at Retro Rubber.  We would love to see what you create in our gallery.  Just a few reminders about our simple rules.  Please use at least one stamp that is older than a year and tell us how old it is, and enter 10 or fewer challenges.  See you soon!
